Murat Kayabalii

Prof. Dr. Murat Kayabalı is a vascular and endovascular surgeon who has performed over 2,500 operations. He performed Turkey’s first in-situ femoro-popliteal bypass in 1989. In 1998, he performed the country's first endovascular aneurysm repair. Dr. Kayabalı has held the rank of Professor since 1996. He also passed the European Board of Vascular Surgery exam in 2010.

Vascular Specialization and Techniques

Dr. Kayabalı uses open surgery and endovascular methods to treat arterial diseases. He specifically performs balloon, stent, and hybrid interventions for carotid and renal arteries. Hybrid interventions combine open surgery and endovascular techniques to increase success rates. The specialist has performed 400 carotid endarterectomies and 150 endovascular aneurysm repairs (EVAR). Carotid endarterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes plaque from the neck arteries to prevent strokes. His experience also includes more than 1,000 lower-extremity reconstructions since 1985.

Editorial Roles and Professional Recognition

Dr. Kayabalı contributed to medical journals as an editor and reviewer. He served as the editor of Vascular Surgery (Damar Cerrahisi) for 13 years. From 1994 to 1998, he served on the editorial board of the Journal of Endovascular Surgery. He also served as a Board Member of the National Vascular Surgery Association from 2000 to 2005.
