Gerhard Horstmann is a neurosurgeon at the clinic who co-founded the Gamma Knife Zentrum and served as Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) of MVZ Gamma Knife GmbH. He played a major role in establishing Gamma Knife treatment in Germany. His professional work ended with retirement on 31.12.2023.

M. Nießen is a specialist in Radiation Therapy at the clinic’s MVZ Gamma Knife Center Krefeld, working there since 2024 and joining the team as a physician colleague on 01.01.2024. Before that, he trained in radiation therapy at University Hospital Essen and an MVZ in Leverkusen after neurology work at Uniklinikum Bonn. In March 2024, he attended the Leksell Gamma Knife Clinical Introduction course in Prague at Nemocnice Na Homolce Hospital.

Michael Nießen is a radiation therapy specialist at the clinic’s MVZ Gamma Knife Center Krefeld, working there since 2024 and joining the team on 01.01.2024. He completed radiation therapy specialist training at University Hospital Essen and in an MVZ for radiation therapy in Leverkusen after neurology work at Uniklinikum Bonn. In March 2024, he attended the Leksell Gamma Knife Clinical Introduction course in Prague at Nemocnice Na Homolce Hospital.

D. J. W. Skutta is the clinic’s Head of Radiation Therapy (Leiter der Strahlentherapie) at MVZ Gamma Knife Center Krefeld. He helped establish extracranial stereotactic radiotherapy—starting with the center’s own linear accelerator (LINAC) and later expanding it in cooperation with Helios Klinikum Krefeld. After many years of work at the Gamma Knife Zentrum, he was released into retirement at the end of May.

Otto Bundschuh is a neurosurgery specialist at the clinic’s MVZ Gamma Knife Center Hanover and has served as Medical Director (Ärztlicher Leiter) since 2019. He has been conducting Gamma Knife radiosurgery since 2000 and led the Hanover Gamma Knife Center from 2008 to 2018. In June 2023, he presented at the DGNC annual meeting in Stuttgart on radiosurgery options for head tumors.

Götz Lütjens is a neurosurgeon at the clinic’s MVZ Gamma Knife Zentrum Hannover, working with radiosurgery since 2019. He has been a neurosurgery specialist since 2012 and trained in stereotaxis and functional neurosurgery during earlier hospital roles. In 2024, he deepened his functional radiosurgery expertise through a dedicated course in Marseille led by Prof. J. Régis and Prof. R. Martinez.

Albertus T. C. J. van Eck is a neurosurgeon at the clinic’s Gamma Knife Zentrum Krefeld, with Gamma Knife radiosurgery experience dating back to the center’s early years. He was involved in establishing Gamma Knife treatment in Germany together with Dr. Gerhard Horstmann. After decades at the clinic, he retired at the end of March 2023.

Frank Sonnenschein is a neurosurgery specialist at the clinic and has led the MVZ Gamma Knife Zentrum Krefeld as Medical Director (Ärztlicher Leiter) since 1 July 2023. He has practiced Gamma Knife radiosurgery at the clinic since 2017, building on 17 years at the City of Krefeld Hospital / HELIOS Hospital Krefeld. In June 2022, he attended the ISRS World Congress in Milan to follow new developments in Gamma Knife treatments.

Sam Zaboli is a neurosurgeon at the clinic’s MVZ Gamma Knife Zentrum Krefeld, joining the team as a radiosurgical neurosurgeon on 01.08.2024. He became a specialist in neurosurgery in 2017 through the Bavarian Medical Association and brings spine-center leadership experience from Ingolstadt Hospital (Deputy Head, 2022–2024). He also holds a radiation protection qualification (Fachkunde im Strahlenschutz).
