Pawel Grochowicz

He specializes in the surgical and conservative treatment of diseases of the anus, rectum, and large intestine.

In particular, he treats:

1. Hemorrhoidal disease – conservative (non-surgical) treatment, surgical (in-hospital) treatment, and outpatient procedures
2. Anal fistulas and abscesses – surgical treatment
3. Anal fissures
4. Injuries of the anus and rectum
5. Fecal incontinence (anal sphincter insufficiency)
6. Pilonidal cysts
7. Colonoscopy and endoscopic procedures (including removal of colorectal polyps)

He works at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the Warsaw Proctology Center. Dr. Paweł Grochowicz, MD, PhD, has nearly 40 years of experience in the treatment of proctological diseases.

From 1979 to 2016, he worked in the reference, and the only one of its kind in Poland, Proctology Unit/Subunit at Solec Hospital, established in 1976 by Dr. Maciej Grochowicz, MD, PhD, and Associate Professor Mieczysław Tylicki. The Head of the Proctology Unit was Dr. Maciej Grochowicz (1976–2005), followed by Professor Małgorzata Kołodziejczak (2005–2016).

The Solec Proctology Team included (at various times) Dr. Dariusz Sarti, Dr. Jerzy Jędrzejak, Dr. Andrzej Ziembikiewicz, Dr. Andrzej Lemański, Dr. Jacek Kowalczyk, Dr. Agnieszka Kucharczyk, Dr. Anna Wiączek, as well as a specialized nursing team.

In 2016, the Proctology Team from Solec Hospital was relocated to St. Elizabeth Hospital at 1 Goszczyńskiego Street in Warsaw, where the Warsaw Proctology Center was established under the leadership of Professor Małgorzata Kołodziejczak. In addition to surgical and conservative treatment of diseases of the anus, rectum, and large intestine, the Center develops and implements new treatment methods, conducts diagnostic, rehabilitative, scientific, and educational activities. It also serves as the headquarters of the Polish Coloproctology Club.

Between 1979 and 1997, he was a PhD student, assistant, and later assistant professor at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Dr. Paweł Grochowicz also worked abroad.

In 1983–1984, he held a DAAD research scholarship at the Institute for Surgical Research at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.

From 1989 to 1996, he worked at John Hunter Hospital, University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, in the Transplantation Department, where from 1991 to 1996 he served as Director of the Transplant Research Unit and held the position of Principal Scientific Officer.
