Dr. Javier Toro is an interventional pain physician who has performed 5,000 analgesic procedures. He practices regenerative medicine, anesthesiology, and palliative care at Stem Cells Colombia. The specialist is an Associate Professor at CES University. Additionally, he pioneered the use of spinal neurostimulation implants.
Clinical Specialization & Expertise
Dr. Toro treats chronic cancer and non-cancer pain using image-guided techniques. He has performed 100 percutaneous spinal neurostimulation system implants — devices that send electrical signals to the spinal cord to block pain. The specialist uses ultrasound and fluoroscopy to guide these interventions. He also performs intrathecal therapy pump procedures and treats patients at risk of chronic pain after surgery.

Academic Research & Recognition
Dr. Toro presents original research at international medical congresses. He studied how articular radiofrequency – a procedure using heat to reduce joint pain – affects patients with osteoarthritis. The doctor also conducted a retrospective study on ultrasound-guided injections. This research included the pericapsular nerve group block (PENG) technique for hip pain.
