DBS method has a list of strict contraindications and requires careful diagnostics prior to the surgery.

PD patients who have indications for treatment by means of surgery, have to undergo examination by specialists of neurology and psychology as well as perform the diagnostic tests as MR imaging, CT, EEG, ECG.

Contraindications:

• patients older than 75 years;
• positive response to levodopa agent;
• serious chronic pathologies;
• memory problems;
• on-off phenomenon;
• psychiatric diseases.
