I am extremely grateful to Prof. Dr. Cătălin Badiu and the entire NORD medical team for the care I received during one of the most important and difficult periods of my life.
I underwent aortic valve surgery with Prof. Badiu, and one of the main reasons I chose him was his extensive experience with minimally invasive valve surgery and ministernotomy. Even though this was major cardiac surgery, the incision is remarkably small and, only one month later, already looks very discreet.
From the beginning, I felt I was in the hands of a surgeon with exceptional experience, judgment, and technical skill. He made a genuine attempt to repair my native bicuspid aortic valve, and when the result was not satisfactory, he chose replacement rather than accepting a compromise. I now have a well-functioning biological valve and preserved heart function.
My postoperative course was more complicated than expected and required a second intervention for postoperative bleeding, followed by close monitoring and treatment. Throughout everything, Prof. Badiu remained calm, involved, accessible, and focused on getting me safely through the complications and back on the path to recovery. I never felt like just another patient.
I am equally grateful to Dr. Ioana Băjenaru and Dr. Oana Ioniță, who monitored me closely during my hospitalization. Both were extremely knowledgeable, kind, patient, and empathetic. They explained what was happening, answered my questions, and always made me feel that my concerns were taken seriously.
A special thank-you also goes to Dr. Adina Spătaru from ATI. What impressed me was that her care did not stop when I left intensive care. She came to see me afterward simply to check how I was recovering, and her interest felt genuinely personal. That meant a great deal to me.
I am also very grateful to Dr. Andreea Vlădău from Pneumology, who carefully explained the lung trauma and complications I developed, monitored my respiratory recovery, and made sure that my lung was progressing in the right direction. Her explanations and reassurance helped me greatly during a stressful period.
Finally, I want to thank the entire nursing team. Their professionalism, patience, warmth, and attention to detail never went unnoticed. They cared for me day and night, including during the moments when I was uncomfortable, exhausted, worried, and vulnerable, and they consistently treated me with kindness and respect.
Excellent surgery is only one part of a successful recovery. The monitoring, communication, compassion, and dedication that follow are just as important. I feel very fortunate to have been cared for by this team.
Thank you, Prof. Badiu, Dr. Băjenaru, Dr. Ioniță, Dr. Spătaru, Dr. Vlădău, and all the nurses who looked after me. I will remember your professionalism, kindness, and humanity for a very long time.
