Shady Mohammed El-sebai

Dr. Shady Mohammed El-sebai is a consultant interventional radiologist and the Chief of Interventional Radiology at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. He provides image-guided therapies for oncology. He also directs the radiology units at two Egyptian medical centers.

Minimally Invasive Oncology & Imaging

Dr. El-sebai uses interventional oncology techniques to treat liver, renal, and soft-tissue tumors. He performs transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) – a procedure that delivers chemotherapy directly to cancer cells. He also uses radiofrequency (RF) and microwave ablation to destroy lesions in the lungs, bones, and thyroid.

His approach uses guidance from ultrasound, CT, and MRI for precision diagnostics. He conducts biopsies, including Mammotome excisions – a vacuum-assisted system used to remove benign breast lesions. These minimally invasive methods result in shorter recovery times and reduced surgical risks for patients.

Dr. El-sebai has held leadership positions in specialized oncology hospitals since 2008. He leads the interventional units at Shefaa Al Orman International Oncology Hospitals and the National Cancer Institute. He also previously worked as a medical coder for the Northern Rhode-Island medical group.
