Hear me out - if you go to Costa Rica, INCLUDE a visit to the dentist, even for just a cleaning. Best decision I have ever made for our dental health and in our travel adventures. I was in touch with Lori at DaVinci’s Dental Care (she is AMAZING) and she set us up with an appointment here, in one of Dr. Bernal Soto’s offices in San José. Our treatment plan was for a deep cleaning (coded as periodontal scaling and root planing in the States).
Our dentist, Dr. Camilla and Diana the dental hygienist were exceptional. The location was clean and equipped the latest technology. They were incredibly accommodating to our travel schedule, thoroughly explained our dental needs, and provided the best care with a gentle touch. They were mindful of sensitivities and made sure we left with beautiful smiles.
I am just like you, like so many in the States that have to pay for dental care and co pays out of pocket. It is becoming increasingly frustrating that something this essential to our health is so expensive and seemingly out of reach; it can be very disheartening. I now feel so empowered that I took this chance. It is so great to know that there IS a better choice AND you can do it while on vacation. I wish I would have done this sooner. Make the leap and give it try. You will love it.

Edit: Be sure to ask and provide Lori with your dental insurance too. She may be able to file and help submit the claim forms necessary to get your cleaning and treatments covered in part or in total by your insurance. It is a win:win.
