He was accepted to Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, one of the two medical faculties that taught in English at that time. He completed one year of English preparation and 6 years of medical education without any loss. He was a member of the ski team and basketball team at the university, and also managed social events such as the annual medical ball.
He was assigned to Iskenderun State Hospital in compulsory service. Assoc. Prof. Dr., who served as the emergency manager. Ali Durmuş passed the General Surgery Department of Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in the Medical Specialization Exam. Assoc. Prof. Dr. completed his specialization and became a specialist. Due to his success in his compulsory service, Ali Durmuş was appointed as assistant chief physician to the Oncology department at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital.

In 2015, he left his job in Okmeydanı and worked as Assistant Professor. He started working as a faculty member at Nişantaşı University.

After becoming a general surgery specialist in 1996, I served as a General Surgery and Organ Transplantation Specialist at SSK (social insurance institution), for a period of 9 years. In 2005, was granted the title of Associate Professor-General Surgery. Between 2005 and 2012, I established the kidney transplant centers in İzmir Private Kent Hospital, Istanbul Private Gaziosmanpasa Hospital, and Medicalpark Goztepe Hospital respectively, and served as the chief executive of these centers.
I have worked in İzmir Private Kent Hospital since 2013. I established Obesity Clinic at Gazi Hospital, and performed more than 200 gastric reduction operations.

• Surgical treatment: laparoscopic operations to remove all types of hernias (inguinal hernias, femoral hernias, umbilical hernias, postoperative ventral hernias, esophageal opening of the diaphragm and other types of abdominal wall hernias).
• Treatment of gallstone disease, removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy), stones in the ducts.
• Operative treatment for acute conditions (acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis, perforating ulcer, perforation of a diverticulum, intestinal obstruction, purulent-septic diseases), all conditions of "acute abdomen".
• Treatment of oncological diseases of the stomach, intestines and other organs of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space.
• Treatment of varicose veins of the legs.
• Operative treatment of obesity (bariatric surgery) and metabolic dysfunction.
• Colitis, hemorrhoids, anal itching, fissures, constipation and diarrhea, anal sphincter weakness, anal sphincter incontinence due to rupture of the perineum after childbirth.
• Abdominal injuries.
• Perianal condylomas.
• Polypos.
• Proctitis, paraproctitis and others.
