Specialization and Areas of Interest
Dr. Ayten diagnoses and treats lung conditions. He uses endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS) to examine the airway and lymph nodes. This minimally invasive technique helps in precise staging of lung diseases. EBUS uses a bronchoscope with an ultrasound probe to visualize structures through the airway wall.
The specialist treats a variety of respiratory illnesses, including:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Asthma and Pneumonia
- Diffuse parenchymal lung diseases
- Bronchial fistula closure via bronchoscopy
He performs bronchoscopic balloon dilatation for patients with COPD. This procedure uses a small balloon to open narrowed airways and improve breathing. Dr. Ayten also conducts pneumonectomy when surgical lung removal is necessary. This surgery involves removing a whole lung to treat diseased tissue.
