What is surrogacy for gay couples?
If two gay men want to have a baby they should find a woman who will agree to carry it for them. In other words, they need to refer to surrogacy. The process of IVF has 4 main stages:

Surrogates must always pass a special screening by a mental health professional in order to explore and prevent potential emotional difficulties the surrogate may have during the process.
- Finding an egg donor. It may be someone from your circle of friends, an anonymous donor or a person from fertility agency.
- Getting screened. Everyone involved in surrogacy must undergo medical and psychological tests.
- Drawing up a contract. You need to hire an attorney qualified in the issues of surrogacy. Its major target is to protect all parties and avoid problems during and after pregnancy.
- Aligning menstrual cycles of the surrogate and the egg donor. The two women will take hormones to synchronize their menstrual cycles and prepare their bodies for further manipulations.
- Using IVF. It helps to combine the germ cells and implant the embryo into surrogate’s uterus. Sometimes several IVF’s may be required to get a successful pregnancy. Each IVF cycle lasts for nearly 1 month.
